Atlantis Academy offers teenagers who have strayed away from the traditional path of education an opportunity to find their way back
by combining traditional academic expectations with the challenges of a wilderness type program, using the ocean as the wilderness training grounds.
The students will have the opportunity to learn surfing, sailing, scuba diving and a variety of learning opportunities associated with the Sea and Sobriety Program.
The goal of the program is integrate education, experience, and employment opportunities with the necessary mental health intervention required to maximize the child's probability of success in life.
Students are assessed and it determined which level of care is most suitable for them. We offer residential, day treatment and afternoon counseling sessions as our different levels of counseling and care.
At all levels of treatment every effort is made to integrally involve the family so that the adolescent is able to return to his family with every likelihood of successful functioning.
The Cost of Reality
We won't try to provide a lesson in sociology here.
Instead, we will get down to the basics on the costs associated with troubled teen.
In other words, we will move beyond the obvious fact that unless troubled teens turn their lives around, they flounder through life, beginning when they are barely more than children, and extending through the critical years during which they should be progressing through trade school, college or a university.
Depending on the severity of their issues, their families suffer emotionally and financially, their significant others pay the price, their children pay, and essentially, they pay the price.
And the price?
It's more than financial.
It can be measured in heartache and heartbreak.
The price is a life, one that possibly , provided proper intervention had taken place, could have been redirected and saved.
Pain and destruction can be replaced with rejoicing and salvation.
Untreated psychiatric disorders result in lost opportunities in life, be it unfulfilled interpersonal relationships, lost occupational or educational opportunities or simply unrealized potential.
We were all meant to have satisfying loving relations and a productive meaningful life.
Don't throw away the opportunity for yourself or your children.
